Shinn Point is an excellent place for shopping and dining. The homes here are close to wonderful beaches and belong to a terrific school system. This quiet setting on the canal is only five minutes from the ocean.
Pelican Reef has top-notch schools, several golf courses, and beautiful beaches. This community offers its residents access to the pools, clubhouse, and fitness center. The community pier is the ideal spot to crab, fish, or simply kick back and relax.
Communities for the Island Lover
Bald Head Island on the eastern edge of the Cape Fear River is only accessible by the ferry from Southport. The peaceful tranquility here is due in part to the fact that no vehicles are allowed in. Residents enjoy using electric golf carts to get around. This neighborhood makes a great retirement community, and it boasts an 1817 historic lighthouse.
Figure Eight Island can only be reached by crossing the Intercoastal Waterway Bridge. This private community is located directly on the ocean. The island is home to long expanses of white sand beaches without the interruption of commercial properties.
Masonboro Harbour is a gated community on the waterfront. Residents can use the boat slips or private marina. A short boat ride to Masonboro Island gives one access to eight miles of unpopulated beaches.
Other Wonderful Wilmington Waterfront Communities
Tidalwalk sits along the Intercoastal Waterway between Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean. It has a small town feel with plenty of dining, shopping, and entertainment available. Most homes in this neighborhood are new.
Greymarsh Crossing is within minutes of Wrightsville Beach, and it has the look and feel of yesterday’s small towns. A marsh front community, all residents have access to the pool. Additional water fun can be found kayaking on one of the nearby creeks.
Along with many nearby beaches, residents of Shinn Creek enjoy a boat ramp, day dock, and pool within the community. Newer homes include an ocean view. This neighborhood is close to the Mayfaire Town Center and the New Hanover County Atrium. It is the ideal setting for those who love to take peaceful walks.
